I’m Leah—a writer who loves to draw. The daughter of a filmmaker and an artist, I grew up going to art galleries and movies every weekend. As a child, I drew pretend beauty pageant winners, made my own greeting cards, and doodled compulsively on and in all my notebooks. But then I got sidetracked by my love of books. I dreamed of writing a book like those I loved to read and for years, wrote short stories, poetry, and even a few novels. I co-edited an anthology with Caren Osten Gerszberg, “Drinking Diaries: Women Serve Their Stories Straight Up,” based on our popular blog, Drinking Diaries.
All my work is tinged with an intense nostalgia, an appreciation of life’s small pleasures—my “Remembrance of things past.”
The work shown here is mostly digital art, created on an I Pad Pro, and is either a personal project, or inspired by Lilla Rogers for her Make Art That Sells courses. Sketchbook art is a combination of Copic Markers, pastels, colored pencils, Posca pens, and gouache.
I live with my husband, 3 kids and my dog, Javi the Havanese, in an old Victorian in Westchester County, NY.
