Me in my studio at the Stamford Loft Artist’s Association Photos by Lori Rotskoff

I’m Leah—a writer who loves to draw. The daughter of a filmmaker and an artist, I grew up going to art galleries and movies every weekend. As a child, I drew pretend beauty pageant winners, made my own greeting cards, and doodled compulsively on and in all my notebooks. But then I got sidetracked by my love of books. I dreamed of writing a book like those I loved to read and for years, wrote short stories, poetry, and even a few novels. I co-edited an anthology with Caren Osten Gerszberg, “Drinking Diaries: Women Serve Their Stories Straight Up,” based on our popular blog, Drinking Diaries.

Above all, I am passionate about color. I also love painting people. My landscapes are mostly imagined or abstracted poetic dreamscapes. My work is tinged with an intense nostalgia and an appreciation of life’s small pleasures—my “Remembrance of things past.”

The work shown here is a mix of digital art, created on an I Pad Pro, and acrylic paintings, mixed media and collage.

I live in Westchester County, NY, and I’m a member of the Stamford Loft Artist’s Association, where I have an art studio.
